Students at the Faculty of Japan Studies explore “Vietnam- Japan culture” through traditional costumes.

In the morning of October 20th, 2019, students at Faculty of Japan Studies of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) participated in the event “Vietnam- Japan culture” to explore the Japanese culture and its traditional costume.

The event was jointly held by Faculty of Japan Studies,  HUTECH branch of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Group, Asuka Club of Faculty of Japan Studies, and Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association. In addition, the event has also received sponsorship from Aodaisilk and Japanese Kosé cosmetic.

The event was held in honor of welcoming Ms. Dang Nguyen Quynh Phuong, representative of Ho Chi Minh City’s Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association and Ms. Ho To Lien, Dean of Faculty of Japan Studies of HUTECH, Chairman of HUTECH branch of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Group. The representative of Kosé was Ms. Truong Hua Nghi Lam, Southern Marketing Director; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan, Southern Chief Customer Officer; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Southern Training Director.

With the message “the most beautiful woman is one wearing the traditional costume”, the meeting “Vietnam- Japan culture” brought great opportunity for students studying at Faculty of Japan Studies to learn about a kind of unique Japanese traditional Kimono named “Furisode” under the instruction of Ms. Le Thi Xuan Trinh, a former student abroad.

Apart from the sharing about cultural costume tips and tricks presented by the speaker, Ms. Ho Le Xuan Trinh, representatives of Kosé cosmetic brand, also introduced Japanese make-up styles and organized a funny and challenging Q&A game to play with students about Japanese culture, creating a dynamic atmosphere.

The meeting ended with a fashion show of traditional costume from both countries, Kimono from Japan and Ao Dai from Vietnam. The show was performed by female students at the Faculty of Japan Studies of HUTECH and attracted great attention from the audience. It also gave students deep insights into the tradition of both countries.
