On May 26th, 2017 students of the cooperative Bachelor program in Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts between the University of Cergy - Pontoise (France) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has carried out their final project presentation forum, including two main events: Conference titled “Culinary Trend in Vietnam” and Workshop on “Craft Beer and Arabica Coffee”.

The forum consisted of two continuous sessions in the morning and the afternoon, bringing about an environment for academic discussion, as well as culinary culture practice and exchange at the HUTECH University. The forum also received the great interest and participation of Dr. Kieu Tuan - Chairman of the HUTECH Board of Trustees, Dr. Pham Thi Hai Quynh - Vice Director of the HUTECH Institute of International Education, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong - Vice Director of the HUTECH Institute of International Education, along with lecturers and students of the Cergy - Pontoise Program and other students majoring in restaurant management and culinary arts.

The great result of the forum came from the diligent and professional efforts of five student groups (totaling 27 students), where the workloads were distributed and jointly completed by the Conference Group (in charge of the conference), Workshop Group (in charge of the workshop), F&B Group (preparing meals and tea-breaks), VIP Guess Group (catering for VIP guesses) and Communication Group (media and advertisements). The 4 presented topics, including: “Making sense of globalization of food”, “Healthy food”, “Craft beer”, and “Arabica coffee”, were proposed by the students within the scope of the grand topic for this year’s program: “New Culinary Trend”. The students also took charge in finding sponsors for the event in order to realize the topics into the programs of “Culinary Trend in Vietnam” Conference and “Craft Beer and Arabica Coffee” Workshop.

Among those four topics, the two interesting topics “Making sense of globalization of food” and “Healthy food” were respectively presented by Prof. Dr. Eric Olmedo - representative from the University of Cergy - Pontoise, lecturer of the program; and Prof. Giovanni J Delrosario – Director of the Culinary Arts Program at Los Angeles Harbor College.

The contents of the forum were designed to cater for the specialty demand of students majoring in Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts, in a pleasant, eye-catching and attractive atmosphere of light foods and drinks.

At the same time with the conference, the Workshop “Craft Beer and Arabica Coffee” was held at Room B-02.01. This is an open space designed for guests to meet and exchange with representatives of sponsors including the Workshop coffee brand and two beer brands, Platinum and Pasteur Street. Participating the Workshop, guesses were given the opportunity to update their knowledge about those two new trending beverages, while at the same time getting to try their unique tastes. All the brewing equipments, products, and speakers contributing in the success of the workshop were 100% provided by the sponsors.

Having completed this final project presentation forum, Cergy - Pontoise students will continue to have their 4 months internship at 5 stars restaurants in HCM City

Having completed this final project presentation forum, Cergy - Pontoise students will continue to have their 4 months internship at 5 stars hotels in HCM City such as: Sheraton, Park Hyatt, Pullman after which they will officially graduate and receive the Bachelor Degree in Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts issued by the University of Cergy - Pontoise, which has international validity and is recognized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.
 
Apparently, this interesting and practical event has created an excellent opportunity for the students to apply their knowledge into practice, to look for partners, sponsors, as well as promote their teamwork skills. It is evident that they will be able to confidently take positions in the international working environment right after graduation.
