In the morning of January 8th, 2019, the Faculty of English of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a seminar named “Applied psychology in establishing a trustworthy brand” at HUTECH Manpower Training Center in District 9, HCMC. The objective of the seminar was to help fourth-year students create their good images to convince employers and prepare a successful job orientation.

Attending the seminar were Mr. Vo Quoc Dai, Head of English Club(HEC); Mr. Pham Sy, Lecturer at Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and over 200 students specialized in English for Business.

When attending an interview, the first impression is very important, showing emotional factors (external emotions), physical emotions (internal emotions), and emotional feelings. In this manner, factors like human dignity, competence for the task, and behavior would be exposed and affect the final decision of the business whether to employ you, said Mr. Pham Sy. In addition, he delivered a Self- Esteem test to those who were too sensitive and could be easily affected by external factors listed above. Then, he gave them some advice to improve their Self-Esteem.

After this meaningful workshop, students at Faculty of English could gain communication skills, control their emotion and become more confident when applying for their jobs.
