Building Student’s Confidence in Using English with “Speakout”

In the afternoon of January 1st, 2019, HUTECH Institute of Professional Studies; Pearson, Education Publishing, and ISE Training and Language Development Co., Ltd jointly held a seminar to introduce a new English teaching method based on course books “Speakout” at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).

At the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice President of HUTECH, stated the importance of high-quality English teaching in learning and working at HUTECH. Thus, the seminar was a chance for 42 lecturers at HUTECH Foreign Languages Center of Institute of Professional Studies and Institute of International Education to seek a new method and improve teaching qualifications at University.

After the opening remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Mr. Phan Trong Khoi, specialist of Pearson, Education Publishing, introduced a comprehensive eight-level English course named “Speakout” for adults published by Pearson publisher and ISE. The course integrates a unique approach and authentic learning materials to develop all core skills of learners and gain confidence in all skill areas. He also pointed out the advantages of using authentic language, real communication, new reading texts, a wider range of pronunciation features and tasks from BBC in the classroom which are relevant to the teaching of all lecturers.

The seminar was a chance for lecturers to share their experience in teaching activities together. Hence, they could elicit new teaching methods in order to apply for students.
