HUTECH lecturers study methods to build ideas and support student startup projects

In the morning of February 28th, Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT) of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held the seminar "Building business ideas in PD and application in startup projects” to help lecturers prepare more thoroughly to support students in their startup projects.

The seminar received the participation of the speakers: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice Director of VJIT; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh - Director of Project Design Training Center (PDEC) of VJIT; Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Hong - Lecturer of Finance - Commerce Faculty; and Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh - Lecturer of Information Technology Faculty of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF); and lecturers of the two universities.

With extensive experience in the startup field, Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Hong shared with the lecturers at the seminar about Business Model Canvas (MBC). This is the fundamental knowledge that students need to master at the start of their startup project with basic elements to be ensured such as segmentation/customer needs, special value proposition of products for customers' needs, sales channels, customer relations, income ... Then, the Lean Canvas (LC) streamlined business model being applied by projects and startups was also introduced by Dr. Cuc Hong to help HUTECH and UEF lecturers prepare carefully to accompany and guide students to develop their own projects.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung also shared about the training program and training principles of the Project Design (PD) course being used for VJIT students. According to him, this is a practical subject, providing a broad, practical view, helping students visualize the necessary steps in the startup process under the guidance of lecturers. Besides, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, in turn, introduced lecturers to applications that can be used in group work processes for professional startup projects and how to raise capital and call for investment from investors, in order to bring the most professional appearance to the startup teams/individuals when standing in front of investors or the jury at big competitions.

Along with useful information and knowledge, the lecturers also discussed, analyzed and made comments on the difficulties the students face when starting their own projects. Thereby, the most practical and effective support directions have been proposed by the lecturers themselves in order to provide timely support for the students to bring their creative ideas to the community.
