In addition to key insights into the role of facilitators and coordinators in guiding student groups, the program covered techniques for planning interview questions, synthesizing and analyzing data (Data Clustering), identifying problems (Insight), determining user needs (Needs), and creating user personas (Persona).
New teaching methods and educational philosophies were shared at the conference
The speakers emphasized the importance of fostering interdisciplinary thinking to solve community challenges, promoting social responsibility, respecting community principles, and developing students’ adaptability, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and design thinking—key components in educating the next generation.

Following the training and conference in Singapore, HUTECH faculty members embraced new knowledge and skills, ready to apply Design Thinking in project-based education and help students grow in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Learning Express is an initiative by Singapore Polytechnic designed to help students apply their knowledge to address community challenges, develop design thinking, interdisciplinary approaches, creativity, cross-cultural skills, teamwork, and community service awareness across ASEAN. The program also focuses on challenges related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over the past decade, the program has involved more than 35 universities from 10 countries in Southeast Asia, India, China, and Japan, with over 10,000 students participating in nearly 200 projects to solve local challenges.
HUTECH is one of the key partners in the Learning Express community project with SP. Over the years, the program has provided students from SP and HUTECH with meaningful international exchange experiences, opportunities to learn, and essential skills to become global citizens.
