On October 9, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed representatives from Woosong University in Korea for a meeting to discuss future directions in educational and research collaboration.
During the meeting, both universities shared overviews of their development orientations, academic strengths, and training programs. They agreed that educational cooperation goes beyond knowledge sharing, as it also provides opportunities for students and faculty to develop global competencies and broaden their cultural and professional experiences in an international learning environment.
HUTECH representatives at the meeting
Representatives from Woosong University included Mr. Le Hong Hai, Director of Southeast Asia Admissions at Woosong University, and Mr. Vu Duc Hung, Executive Director of HT Ocean Group
The discussion focused on the joint implementation of a doctoral program for faculty members of both institutions, particularly for HUTECH lecturers. The program is designed with flexible study arrangements that allow participants to continue their professional duties in Vietnam while engaging in advanced research under the guidance of Woosong University’s leading professors. Woosong University will also provide scholarships covering up to 50 percent of tuition fees for eligible candidates, helping to reduce financial barriers and encourage HUTECH faculty to pursue higher academic goals.
Both universities also expressed interest in developing joint research projects between their faculty members, focusing on globally relevant topics such as digital transformation in education, applied artificial intelligence, creative communication, sustainable technology, and life sciences. This collaboration will enhance the research capacity of both universities and contribute to international publications, strengthening their academic presence in the regional education community.
Both sides discussed various opportunities for cooperation in education and research
In addition, HUTECH and Woosong explored joint academic programs in Woosong’s key disciplines, including Cosmetic Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Multimedia Communication. Articulation models such as 2+2 or 3+1 programs were considered suitable, allowing students to study part of their program in Vietnam and continue their studies in Korea to gain international learning experience.
HUTECH also proposed developing both short-term and long-term student exchange programs in two directions: HUTECH students studying in Korea and Woosong students coming to Vietnam. The programs may range from a few days to a semester or a full academic year, with tuition support provided to encourage participation and expand experiential learning opportunities. During the exchange period, students will study with faculty members from both universities, gaining diverse academic knowledge, professional skills, and cross-cultural understanding that will prepare them to become global citizens in the future.
The meeting between HUTECH and Woosong University marked the start of a promising partnership
The meeting opened new prospects for comprehensive cooperation in education and scientific research. With shared vision and long-term commitment, both universities aim to develop flexible, high-quality, and application-oriented international programs that broaden academic opportunities and empower HUTECH students and faculty to succeed in the global education environment.
