HUTECH students discuss career orientation topics with representatives of leading IT companies

In order to help students update their career prospects in the Industry 4.0 era, on the afternoon of January 22, 2021, the Faculty of Information Technology of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized a seminar focusing on choosing specializations and career orientation in IT. The program was accompanied by representatives of leading IT companies, such as FPT Software HCM, TMA Solutions, Xboss, Westcon - Comstor Asia, NamiQAI, ORCO, etc.

The seminar took place at HUTECH High-Quality Manpower Training Center (Saigon Hi-tech Park, Thu Duc City), attracting the participation of more than 1,300 IT students. Attending the program were leaders of the university, including Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang Viet - Vice President of HUTECH; Dr. Bui Van The Vinh - Vice President of HUTECH; Dr. Nguyen Toan - Members of the University’s Founding Council. Leaders of the Faculty of Information Technology were present at the seminar included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Dinh Bay - Dean Dr. Vu Thanh Hien - Vice Dean; Mr. Duong Thanh Phet - Vice Dean; Dr. Huynh Quoc Bao - Vice Dean. Moreover, the event also welcomed the participation of Mr. Ho Duc Sinh - Director of the Center for Corporate Relations; Mr. Do Tran Thanh - Deputy Head of Office of Student Affairs Office along with several lecturers and staff members.

Here, HUTECH students and representatives of enterprises explored the specific characteristics, prospects, and requirements of four specializations in the field of IT, including Information System, Software Technology, Computer Network - Communication, and Information Security.

With an introduction to the specialization in Software Engineering, Mr. Dinh Vu Quoc Trung shared the requirements that software enterprises such as FPT Software expect from students, along with the career positions that IT-ers can pursue in the company's fields and projects.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc guided students through the vision and career journey with the specialization in Information Security with a significant role in the current digital technology era. As for the specialization in Computer Networking and Communication, Mr. Khuu Vu Duc highlighted the importance of perseverance and a knowledge base, foreign language skills, and international certificates as a solid foundation for students to conquer career opportunities in the context of integration.

Along with the orientation session on IT specializations, the speakers also shared with students helpful advice and tips to win over potential employers. With the information and experience accumulated from the workshop, surely future IT Engineers will have a more specific view of the professions and specializations they pursue, thereby being more prepared and confident on the journey to pursue their passion.
