FRESHMEN OF THE FACULTY OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARE LOOKING FOR EFFECTIVE WAYS TO LEARN ENGLISH AT UNIVERSITY

In the past three days, September 16, 17, 18, the Faculty of English, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) implemented a series of seminars with the topic "Methods of learning English at University level" for the freshmen of the 2019 academic year. The seminar provided lots of interesting content and tips for students.

First year students were directly guided by Mr. Le Van Tuyen (PhD) - Deputy Head of the Faculty of English.

In the seminar, Mr. Le Van Tuyen (PhD) shared with the new students the importance as well as the positive results when choosing the appropriate method of learning English. He also guided students how to define goals for each academic year, each semester and each different subject so that students can design suitable study strategy to achieve reasonable goals and prepare for the career journey. In addition, the skills and strategies to learn English effectively were also provided carefully by Mr. Tuyen, helping to familiarize students with the new study approach at university.

Not only giving the orientation information, Mr. Tuyen also helped new students get access to many interesting English learning methods such as: learning English online, practicing pronunciation through movies, learning vocabulary by topic, knowing how to choose references for after-school learning, ... thereby fostering a passion for learning with positive effects. After listening to the theory, the students assessed themselves through a self-evaluation test at the seminar, through which students could realize their own strengths and weaknesses and were able to find appropriate development plan for themselves.

Through the discussion of interesting learning methods and the necessary tips to integrate into the university environment, prospective English bachelors have somehow found a passion for learning, and got ready to conquer learning goals, both short and long-term. Hopefully, the experience at the seminar will be valuable for them to confidently integrate with the dynamic international labor market in the 4.0 era.
