Accompanying the students was Mr. Lê Văn Tuyên, Ph.D - Vice Dean of the Faculty

At the seminar, Mr. Le Van Tuyen - Vice Dean of the Faculty gave students a multiple-choice assessment, such as What is your learning style? How to discover your style of study? What are our motivation and goal setting? How to develop your confidence?, to help them establish and tailor effective learning. Based on the evaluation questionnaire, Mr. Le Van Tuyen excited the freshmen when he gave two groups of learning styles (group working slowly, group working quickly) and pointed out the pros and cons in each group. Accordingly, he gave advice and shared how to change to achieve success in learning English. That is, not to be afraid of others’ laugh at you, learn English even after leaving the classroom, not to be sad when you make mistakes but learn from those mistakes, etc. In particular, he also emphasized learning English was to take notes of important words, idioms and structures in class.

The seminar was a “stepping stone” for the freshmen on the onward journey

In addition to the orientation, Mr. Tuyên guided the students on creating motivation in studying such as setting goals (passing exams but having high scores, applying for a good job, studying abroad, etc), determining the goals for each month, each semester, each school year and checking the roadmap set before. He said: “Those who have motives, desires, and needs will be successful. There are also people who are affected externally, if there is a suitable adjustment, they will succeed very quickly ”.

With the methods Mr. Tuyên shared, new students of the Faculty of English had more tips to effectively improve English, and at the same time had more motivation to conquer four years at the university lecture hall.
