OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

INTRODUCTION

The Office of Student Affairs was established on July 9, 1998 under Decision No. 241-98/DKC-QD signed by the President of Ho Chi Minh City Private University of Technology, now Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).

MISSION AND FUNCTIONS

>>> Functions:

- Advising the University’s President on matters pertaining to political education, ideology, party line, laws and policies of the Party and the State, as well as regulations of the Ministry and the University concerning managerial staff, lecturers, full-time employees, and students of the University.

- Managing activities related to the teaching of moral values and building of personal character in students. Overseeing extracurricular activities including student athletic competitions, sporting events, cultural and art programs. 

>>> Mission:

- Organizing activities related to teaching and learning of political, ideological, and moral education for students:

  • Planning student political events, communicating with the student body, and disseminating information related to policies and laws promulgated by the Party and the State; 
  • Disseminating information on student regulations and policies issued by the University;
  • Raise student awareness on social crime prevention.

- Organizing extracurricular activities and student movements:

  • Planning and delivering a wide range of extracurricular activities and student programs.
  • Organizing sporting events, student athletic competitions, cultural and art programs; selecting outstanding student representatives to participate in intercollegiate competitions at the regional and national level;
  • Organizing startup competitions and programs that support student innovation and entrepreneurship. 

- Responsible for the monitoring, management, and assessment of students:

  • Managing, reporting, and keeping records of the undergraduate student population. Providing key statistics on matriculating students. 
  • Evaluating student’s training process
  • Coordinating and working with local authorities on the supervision of off-campus students on their safety and general well-being. Ensuring proper conduct of students to maintain social security and order. 
  • Monitoring student satisfaction on the quality of academic and training programs, as well as the student services and support provided by the different offices and departments in the university. 
  • Connecting and strengthening the bonds with alumni to receive timely feedback and assessment on the quality of the university’s academic and training activities. 

- Performing the following tasks in conjunction with other offices/departments:

  • Working with the Office of Administration and the Office of Facilities Management to coordinate and conduct official ceremonies, receptions, and other major university events. 
  • Collaborating with the Office of External and Public Relations to carry out tasks related to internal university’s communication, media, and graphic design work. 
  • Managing the student health services and campus wellness programs;
  • Assisting students with other administrative procedures.
