On January 11, the Institute Professional Training of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held the conference titled "Actively Engaging Learners in Foreign Language Teaching” with the participation and presentation from lecturers of universities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The conference was attended by representatives of HUTECH's leadership and presenters from different universities in Ho Chi Minh City.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam shared, “This is the first conference organized by HUTECH to discuss foreign language teaching and acquisition at the university level. In the era of globalization, foreign languages are the key for students to gain access to scientific discoveries and research findings around the world. Hence, teaching and learning foreign languages at the university level is an important component in student training which helps to improve their qualifications and career advancement.”

It is known that the conference had the participation of 26 reports from HUTECH, University of Social Sciences & Humanities - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, etc. spanning the issues of foreign language teaching (e.g., English, Japanese, Chinese) and research on the general situation concerning foreign language acquisition. Among the 10 lecturers presenting at the conference, they actively engaged in the discussions, critical review, and receiving feedback from the panel of experts. Through these sessions, effective and practical solutions have been proposed to expand the scale of current foreign language teaching activities, thereby actively engaging learners in acquiring and using foreign languages.
