On May 14, 2017, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) cooperated with two local public departments in Binh Thanh District, namely the Police Department of Fire Fighting and Prevention and the District’s Office of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs in organizing the event, “Meeting in response to the month of action on occupational health and safety and conducting fire drills.”

The event was organized in response to the month of action on occupational health and safety and conducting fire drills in Binh Thanh District in 2017. It also facilitated the improvement in fire prevention and overall campus safety at HUTECH.

Performing fire drills and rescue missions through hypothetical situations at HUTECH
Accordingly, HUTECH’s fire prevention task force implemented the first basic steps, including sounding the alarms in case of a fire emergency and calling 114. Immediately, the task force coordinated with Binh Thanh District Police Department for Fire Fighting and Prevention to evacuate people from the building and moving property out of the flame area. At the same time, the force also followed the fire fighting procedures in using available means and tools portable fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire trucks while rehearsing the rescue mission to retrieve eight victims that were still trapped inside the building.
The drill includes several fire fighting vehicles (one command vehicle, one ladder truck, and three fire trucks) with the participation of 48 members of HUTECH’s fire prevention task force
With the careful preparation of equipment, the enthusiasm of the instructors from the Binh Thanh District Police Department for Fire Fighting and Prevention, and the active participation of HUTECH faculty and staff, the training session provided a wealth of knowledge on fire fighting and prevention measures to the participants while contributing to the overall effectiveness of fire prevention efforts at HUTECH.
