To provide students with a practical understanding of the theories covered in the “Fermentation Technology” course, the Institute of Applied Science, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) recently organized for K15 students majoring in Biotechnology to visit the Yakult Factory in Binh Duong province.
Yakult Vietnam Co., Ltd. is a member of Japan’s Yakult Company, specializing in the production of a fermented milk drink containing live cultures. Therefore, the students were very eager to visit the factory to learn about the production line of this fermented milk drink. The field trip was a valuable opportunity to provide students with a practical and useful hand-on learning session.
Students were very excited to learn about the production line of the fermented milk drink containing live cultures
During this trip, students took part in a factory tour while having a close-up look at the plant’s closed production line. Besides, discussion on the interesting world of microorganisms allowed students to examine the different shapes and classifications of beneficial and harmful bacteria for the human digestive system.
Students had a closeup look at the closed production line technology during their tour of the Yakult Factory
In addition, students were introduced to the bottle sterilization process, extraction and labeling process following the official standards and quality to better understand the production process of the fermented milk drink.
Not only seen as an extracurricular activity, the field trip also provides students with a practical and useful learning session
Through this field trip, HUTECH students in Biotechnology gained practical learning experience to further enhance their subject knowledge while having the opportunity to be introduced to the real working environment at manufacturing companies.
