On December 27, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Team of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HUTECH) coordinated with District 9 Police’s Fire Prevention & Rescue Squad to conduct the fire and rescue drills.
Taking place at HUTECH High-Quality Manpower Training Center (Saigon Hi-Tech Park, District 9), the drill mobilized nearly 1,000 HUTECH faculty, staff and students participating in the fire drill under the guidance of HUTECH Fire Prevention and Fighting Team and the fire police force.

Under the guidance of Captain Ly Hai Bac from the District 9 Police’s Fire Prevention & Rescue Force, members of the HUTECH Fire Prevention and Fighting Team were introduced to the principles in handling emergencies, potential causes of fire and explosion (e.g., short circuit, leakage from gas and propane tanks, etc.). They also learned the appropriate steps in responding to these situations, evacuation plans and movements during a fire incident, and effective rescue methods.

HUTECH Fire Prevention and Fighting Team prepares for a practice drill
Together with the District 9 Police’s Fire Prevention & Rescue Force, members of HUTECH Fire Prevention and Fighting Team proceeded in carrying out the drill utilizing available means such as portable fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, and fire trucks during the fire and rescue drill. During the practice, the team also coordinate to retrieve trapped victims from the upper levels using a rescue ladder.

Upon the successful completion of the fire drill, members of HUTECH Fire Prevention and Fighting Team have accumulated more knowledge and experience in handling emergencies contributing to the increased effectiveness of the university’s fire prevention and fighting effort.
