Held this past morning of August 14, the Conference titled “Impact of the new generation of free trade agreements (FTA) on Vietnamese enterprises” was organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in collaboration with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The conference includes the participation of the university’s leadership, senior faculty members, and head of departments, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Vice President, Dr. Bui Van The Vinh - Vice President, Dr. Le Dinh Luong - Head of Administration, Assoc.  Also present at the conference was Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam - Vice Director of VCCI (Ho Chi Minh City branch) representing the conference’s co-organizer. Besides, there were representatives from sponsoring businesses, enterprises, and lecturers from law faculty at other universities.

Co-organized by HUTECH Faculty of Law and VCCI, the conference has selected 31 discussions and reports from scholars, researchers, lecturers, and post-graduate students covering a wide range of topics related to potential obstacles and solutions in finalizing the existing legal framework in Vietnam, plans to attract foreign investments (e.g., FDI, FPI), impacts of FTA on the import-export activities and the supply sector, improve firm’s competitive advantage, etc.

Through the presented subject contents, feedbacks from expert reviews, and discussions among the reporters, peer reviewers, and conference participants, current issues, potential opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese enterprises ahead of the new generation of FTAs have been discussed in detail to arrive at relevant recommendations.
