Vo Khoi Nguyen - The Champion of the 2017 Legal English Contest

On December 13, the final round of the "Legal English Contest 2017" organized by the Faculty of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) took place with the participation of 17 contestants. In the end, the winner was announced after overcoming other competitors to conquer the top prize with the demonstration the excellent English speaking skills.
Legal English Contest 2017 is an academic competition that provides the opportunity for exchange and strengthening of knowledge while improving the skills of law students
The judges for the contest included Dr. Nguyen Thanh Duc - Dean of Faculty of Law, LLM. Nguyen Chi Thang - Lecturer of Faculty of Law and Mr. Jackson Howard - Academic Director of ELC International English Center.

The final competition was divided into three rounds. After the initial round, the top four contestants with the highest scores, namely Vo Khoi Nguyen, Vo Nhut Khoa, Nguyen Thuy Trang and Pham Thi My Linh, all advanced to the next round.
The direct elimination format has increased the intensity of the final round of the competition
In round 2, contestants had to answer quick English questions related to the laws and legal knowledge. After this round, the two remaining contestants were Vo Khoi Nguyen and Nguyen Thuy Thuy Trang. Both students displayed excellent performance and were well deserved to be the last two standing in the final debate round.
Based on assessment criteria including presentation style, correct use of legal language, clear arguments, English pronunciation, etc. the two contestants made great efforts to express their views on legal issues. In the end, contestant Vo Khoi Nguyen was crowned the champion of the 2017 Legal English Contest for his reasoning ability, professional knowledge, and smart response.
