On December 3, 2015, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy of the Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation successfully held the workshop titled “Nuclear power development and stakeholders’ responsibilities in safety assurance.”

The seminar was attended by a large number of leading experts in nuclear power
Attending the seminar were representatives of the organizers along with delegates, scientists, lecturers, and more than 500 HUTECH students from the Faculty of Mechanical - Electrical - Electronics Engineering.
The conference was organized with the aim of providing information on the development of nuclear power on the national and global scale, safety assurance in the production and application of nuclear power, etc.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang Viet shared, “The seminar is an opportunity for everyone to have the most comprehensive overview of nuclear power and how to exploit new energy sources optimally in daily life.”
The Ministry of Science and Technology has reviewed and developed the nuclear power program in order to make contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.

Experts also emphasized the necessity of building a legal system and providing a close monitoring, inspection, and supervision process on the operation of nuclear power plants to ensure their safety.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pavel A. Belousov - Permanent member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences stated that the flagship nuclear reactor, VVER, has demonstrated an extended 60-year service life with a 1,200 MW capacity and the capability to withstand earthquakes and tsunami. The choice of VVER has been made by Vietnam in developing the country’s first nuclear power plant.
The useful information gained from the conference has provided a comprehensive overview of the nuclear power subject.
