HUTECH faculty, staff, and students gain insights into Aerospace technology from NASA expert

On the morning of October 31, faculty, staff, researchers, and students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) had the opportunity to hear from and learn research insights from Dr. Bruce Vu, a former NASA  Aerospace expert.

Organized by the HUTECH Department of Science and Technology, the seminar featured Dr. Bruce Vu, who brings over 30 years of NASA experience, including 18 years studying sound and vibration effects on spacecraft launch platforms. Dr. Vu has also contributed significantly to major projects, playing a vital role in developing equipment for lunar and Mars exploration missions.
 
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh, Vice President of HUTECH, highlighted the importance of connecting education with scientific research, especially in aerospace technology. He noted that this event is an ideal opportunity for students and faculty to engage with cutting-edge research and technology trends worldwide.

Sharing his journey at NASA, Dr. Bruce Vu introduced key centers such as the Ames Research Center, Armstrong Flight Research Center, and Goddard Space Flight Center. Each center, with its unique characteristics and activities, demonstrates NASA’s diversity in space technology research and development. Dr. Vu also shared memorable experiences from his projects, sparking enthusiasm among the audience with these insights.

Additionally, Dr. Vu discussed SpaceX spacecraft and NASA’s Lunar Gateway project, a significant initiative to build an international space station in lunar orbit. He explained the operations, processes, and mission goals of the Lunar Gateway, emphasizing its role as a strategic outpost for lunar and planetary exploration.
 
Dr. Vu further highlighted the international collaboration driving the project, with participation from organizations such as ESA (European Space Agency), JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), and CSA (Canadian Space Agency).
 
Beyond the presentation, HUTECH faculty, researchers, and students engaged enthusiastically with Dr. Vu, asking questions and receiving insights into specific aspects of aerospace and scientific technology, creating lively exchanges throughout the seminar.
