HUTECH Faculty of English co-organized the international conference “Teaching and Learning in New Normality”

In August 20, the international conference "Teaching and Learning in New Normality" was organized by THEPSATRI RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY (Thailand) in collaboration with the faculty of English language, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), and MARA University of Technology (Malaysia), University of Tanjungpura and Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya (Indonesia). The conference was held online.

The conference is part of a series of international academic and cultural exchange activities 2021 - IACE 2021 organized by THEPSATRI RAJABHAT University with the companionship of HUTECH, MARA University of Technology, University of Tanjungpura and Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya.

Participating in the conference, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Thu - Dean of Faculty of English language, Dr. Le Van Tuyen - Vice Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Tran Quoc Thao - Vice Dean of the Faculty and Ms. Pham Quynh Trang - Vice Dean of the Faculty and the teaching staff. The conference also attracted 200 scholars, researchers, lecturers from 15 universities of 4 ASEAN countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam) with representatives including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanya Barndt - Vice Rector in charge of International Cooperation Project of THEPSATRI RAJABHAT University, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Abdullah Hembi - Rector of Mara University of Technology, Dr. Imam Ghozali - Deputy Head of Academic Department of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University and Dr. Dubandowo - Rector of Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya.

A large number of scientists and researchers around the world were present and presented and discussed at the Conference.

 
With the theme "Teaching and Learning in New Normality", the conference aimed to exchange and propose solutions to teaching and learning English during the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, the seminar is also a valuable exchange channel for scholars and researchers to present their studies on teaching and learning English, thereby proposing effective teaching and learning methods. The main report at the Conference are three famous researchers in the world, including Prof. Dr. Hayo Reinders (New Zealand), Prof. Dr. Mohamad Abullah Bin Hemdi (Malaysia) and Dr. Chantorn Chairprasurt.

Dr. Tran Quoc Thao, Representative of HUTECH and Luong Anh Vu, a masters student majoring in English Language, gave an interesting presentation on "imagined communities" and "imagined identities" in teaching and learning English at the conference. The presentation has received positive feedback from researchers and experts about the novelty and practicality of the issues mentioned in the paper.

With the academic exchanges from the International Conference "Teaching and Learning in New Normality", HUTECH lecturers will have more experiences and new English teaching methods suitable for the development stage of the society today, thereby equipping HUTECH students with a more solid knowledge for the stages of regional and international integration.
