Seminar “Project-based learning in English language teaching” with innovative ideas

The Faculty of English Language – HCM city University of Technology (HUTECH) has successfully organized an online seminar on “Project-based learning in English language teaching” on June 8.

The seminar was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam – Vice Rector of HUTECH, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan – Vice Rector of HUTECH, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Thu – Dean of the Faculty of English Language, Dr. Le Van Tuyen – Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language, Dr. Tran Quoc Thao – Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language, Ms. Pham Quynh Trang (MA) – Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language together with faculty members and lecturers from the Faculty of English Language, Institute of International Education and Center of Informatics, Foreign Languages and Skills.

In the seminar, lecturers of the Faculty of English Language reported and discussed English teaching methodologies in teaching English for Business, English Translation and Interpretation and Communicative English. Some notable presentations included Applying project-based learning in English for marketing, Project-based teaching to enhance English-majored students’ speaking skills and Applying Quizizz in Business subject assessment. Academic values and practicality of these methods were also assessed in the seminar.

Lecturers of the faculty also discussed the pros and cons of Project-based learning in English language teaching and proposed measures to mitigate the disadvantages as well as improving the learning outcomes.

Through the seminar, lecturers of the Faculty of English Language have enhanced their expertise on Project-based learning in English language teaching in order to properly, creatively and effectively adopt this method in their teaching. The seminar will lead to more updated and effective teaching methodologies used at the faculty, bringing HUTECH students more compelling, exciting and valuable lessons.
