97 Teams Competed in the “Food Talks. Are you listening?” 2014 Student Contest

On April 11, 2014, the “Food Talks. Are you listening?” 2014 Student Contest officially started with the Warm-up round including 97 competing teams. In addition to the teams of the host universities, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), this year’s competition also welcomes student teams representing other universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province.

The Warm-up round, which included two parts of multiple-choice quizzes and short answers, created a fun and enjoyable learning atmosphere for all the participating teams. During this round, teams quickly solved and accurately answered 45 questions on different topics and practical issues related to food including product barcodes, production videos, as well as images of food making up the first round’s questions.
Teams diligently perform their tasks during the contest
According to information from the organizers, besides the prize for the fans with the most impressive and best cheers, the “Food Talks. Are you listening?” 2014 contest also debuted a Propaganda Arts contest on the theme of “Food hygiene and safety - Protect yourself". The introduction of this brand new competition allowed the participation of the fans while allowing them to be creative and demonstrate their organization and teamwork skills. Present at the contest were the faculty representatives of the International University, Mr. Nguyen Hong Long and Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Giao, who couldn’t contain themselves from the excitement of the ongoing competition. They also expressed their contentment with the excellent organization of such a valuable and interesting student academic contest.
At the conclusion of the contest’s preliminary rounds, HUTECH has made positive impressions as the host university for its hospitality, enthusiasm, dynamic and youthful energy towards the participating teams, guests, and especially all the fans. The teams now look forward to the results, which will be announced on April 15, 2014, naming the eight teams that will advance to the Knock-out rounds in the upcoming Contest Finals.

The competition not only provides an academic environment to enhance student knowledge of specialized food topics such as food production technology but also creates a valuable opportunity to meet and interact with students from other local universities. |
