On December 27, 2015, the Closing and Awarding ceremony of the 17th Euréka Student Research Award was held at Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House in District 1. This year’s award was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in collaboration with Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City. At the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) was honored to receive 08 prizes for its student research projects.
HUTECH students receiving the First Prize at 2015 Euréka Student Research Award in the field of Biotechnology - Biomedical Technology
The Euréka Student Research Award is a prestigious annual undergraduate student research competition that aims to promote student scientific research activities among colleges and universities in Southern Vietnam. Contest entries include submitted student research projects that are subjected to a rigorous evaluation process by different panels of experts from the respective fields of Economics, Humanities, Education, Information Technology, etc.
Out of eight HUTECH’s projects selected as finalists, each has successfully secured an award at this year’s competition
Among 645 project entries in 2015, the Organizing Committee has selected 01 Grand Prize, 07 First Prizes, 13 Second Prizes, 14 Third Prizes, and 32 Consolation Prizes.

Among the eight projects by HUTECH students that were selected to advance to the Finals round of this year’s competition, there was one First Prize and seven consolation prizes. Notably, the research project titled, “Acquisition and investigation of the biological activity of red pigment prodigiosin produced by Serratia marcescens” by the student group from the Faculty of Biotechnology, Food, and Environment has successfully obtained the First Prize in the Biotechnology – Biomedical Technology research category.
