HUTECH Institute of Applied Sciences kicks off the Plant Tissue Culture Competition with 20 competing teams

On April 27, the Plant Tissue Culture Competition with the theme “Incubating Life” organized by the Institute of Applied Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) officially opened with the participation of 20 teams of eager students that were ready to compete.

The official opening of the Plant Tissue Culture Competition "Incubating life" takes place this morning (27/4) at HUTECH High-Quality Manpower Training Center (Thu Duc City)
The opening ceremony was attended by the leaders of the University and the Institute of Applied Sciences. The competition also welcomed Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Director of Trang Lam Service Trade Investment, Services, and Solution Development Company.

Dr. Kieu Tuan shared, “Hopefully, this contest will serve as the premise for many upcoming research projects in biotechnology from HUTECH students that promises to deliver innovative products and solutions in meeting current needs of the market.”

Participating in this year’s competition, 20 teams will choose their favorite plants to be cultured in a suitable Agar medium. Each team will responsible for taking care of these plant cultures over the contest’s duration of two months. The arrangement of plant tissues in the Agar medium, decoration of the product jar, the development level of seedling, etc. will form the basis for evaluating and scoring these products.
