A delegation of environmental experts from Osaka, Japan visits HUTECH

On November 15, 2011, a delegation of environmental experts from Osaka, Japan paid a visit to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH).

During this visit, Mr. Kazuhino Oishi - Head of the Osaka Environmental Expert Delegation mentioned the Memorandum of understanding (MoA) that had previously been signed between the Permanent Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tai and the Mayor of Osaka Mr. Kunio Hiramatsu in July 2011. The bilateral agreement aims to promote cooperation between the two cities in the field of economics, environment, and water management. Among these, the latter categories make up the core of the agreement which emphasizes the promotion of collaboration, exchange of knowledge and experiences, and exploring the possibility of suitable joint research projects on environmental protection, water supply, flood control, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Moreover, it also seeks to advance cooperative efforts in human resource development for the above sectors.

The goal of the delegation’s visit is to gain information, listen to the opinions and sharings of the faculty members and experts at HUTECH. These discussions, in turn, contribute to the development of future environmental protection plans in Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam - HUTECH Vice President along with leaders of the Faculty of Environment and Biotechnology expressed their pleasure in welcoming the visit of the expert delegation. On this occasion, several proposals on solid waste management and environmental protection solutions were put forth by the representatives of HUTECH. Besides, the leaders of the University and the Faculty of Environment and Biotechnology also hoped that there would be more active future cooperation between the experts from Osaka, Japan and HUTECH in advancing the environmental protection efforts in Ho Chi Minh City.
