On October 29, 2013, GreenTech Club of the Faculty of Biotechnology, Food, and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) organized the seminar “Research and production of biopharmaceuticals in Vietnam.” The program was honored to have the presence of Dr. Kieu Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Trustees along with heads of departments, faculties, and offices within the university. The event also attracted over 600 students.
The interesting topic of the seminar has attracted a large number of attending students
As biotechnology affirms its role and significance in human life, countries continue to prioritize investments in research and plans yielding high application values. One of the current difficulties is how to ensure the effective delivery of health services to the growing population. Therefore, the discovery and production of new and effective herbal medicines, pharmaceuticals, stem cell technology, etc. for medical purposes has become increasingly urgent.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Hung - Institute of Tropical Biology during his presentation on stem cell research
The above core issues were comprehensively and professionally conveyed through thematic reports of experts from the Institute of Tropical Biology. The discussion included several interesting topics, namely “Screening and isolation of biologically active substances from herbs applied in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products” and “Stem cells, cancer and new vaccines”, that generated a considerable amount of interest among the participants. In particular, the experts also assessed the rare and diverse resource of herbal plants in Vietnam along with the status of exploitation and conservation of these species which brought a completely new perspective and stimulated the self - study spirit among students.
Academic activities are regular activities of the Faculty of Biotechnology, Food, and Environment
The seminar “Research and production of biopharmaceuticals in Vietnam” provides a valuable opportunity for students in meeting with experts on this subject. The useful information gained from the program will enable students to link theory with practice and provide the needed support for their learning and research. At the same time, students also benefit from the feedback and lessons that contribute to the research orientation and in - depth application driving their personal growth and professional development in the future.
