From March to May 2026, faculty members and administrators of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) actively participated as speakers, presenters, and expert guests at a range of international academic forums, research conferences, and professional exchange programs. Covering topics from sustainable education and innovation in engineering education to applied research for sustainable development, international collaboration, and global business trends, these engagements further demonstrated the University's growing academic reputation, research capabilities, and international connectivity.

Demonstrating HUTECH’s commitment to sustainable education, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, presented the session “Green Skills for Innovation: Future-Ready Skills for Students in a Changing World” at the ASEAN Young Leaders Forum 2026.” Dr. Trang addressed the increasing importance of green skills in response to climate change and digital transformation. She highlighted four key competencies essential for future generations: systems thinking, innovation for sustainability, digital and green integration, and global citizenship and responsibility. Her presentation reinforced the role of higher education in cultivating graduates who are not only professionally competent but also committed to sustainable development and social responsibility.

In the field of engineering education and innovation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Director of the Vietnam–Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT), represented HUTECH at the international forum “International Learning Session on Engineering Innovation Through Design Thinking: Sharing Global Best Practices in Program Implementation.” During the session, he introduced HUTECH’s practical approach to integrating Design Thinking into engineering curricula through the Project Design Education model. This framework guides students through identifying real-world challenges, developing innovative solutions, and implementing practical projects while incorporating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the CDIO approach, artificial intelligence, experiential learning, and emerging technologies. The presentation attracted considerable interest from partner universities across the region and highlighted HUTECH’s commitment to educational innovation and international best practices.

Alongside educational initiatives, HUTECH researchers continued to showcase their expertise on international academic platforms. At the 1st International Multidisciplinary Research Colloquium 2026 organized by Visayas State University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Tuan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, participated as a keynote speaker and presented his research on luminescent bricks for construction applications. The project explores the use of recycled glass waste and other reclaimed materials to develop luminescent paving brick prototypes that support sustainable construction practices. Beyond demonstrating technical innovation, the research highlights the potential of circular economy principles by transforming waste materials into valuable resources for urban infrastructure and environmentally responsible development.
