From March to May 2026, faculty members and administrators of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) actively participated as speakers, presenters, and expert guests at a range of international academic forums, research conferences, and professional exchange programs. Covering topics from sustainable education and innovation in engineering education to applied research for sustainable development, international collaboration, and global business trends, these engagements further demonstrated the University's growing academic reputation, research capabilities, and international connectivity.
Promoting Sustainability and Future-Ready Skills on International Platforms
Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, speaks at the ASEAN Young Leaders Forum 2026
At the ASEAN Young Leaders Forum 2026, organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF), Vietnam, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, delivered a presentation entitled "Green Skills for Innovation: Future-Ready Skills for Students in a Changing World." The forum attracted more than 200 lecturers and students, along with nearly 100 international delegates from 11 ASEAN countries.
In her presentation, Dr. Trang emphasized the importance of Green Skills as a combination of sustainability thinking, innovation, and social responsibility. She highlighted four essential competencies for future graduates: systems thinking, innovation for sustainability, digital and green integration, and global citizenship. Her insights reinforced the importance of preparing students not only with professional expertise but also with the mindset and responsibility needed to contribute to a sustainable future.
Sustainability was also a central theme in the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Tuan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, at the 1st International Multidisciplinary Research Colloquium 2026, organized by Visayas State University in the Philippines.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Tuan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, participated as a keynote speaker and presented his research on luminescent bricks for construction application
Serving as a keynote speaker, Dr. Tuan presented his research entitled "From Waste to Glow: Luminescent Glass Mortars and Paving-Brick Prototypes for Sustainable Built Environment." The study introduced innovative construction materials created from recycled glass waste and hydrated cement particles, demonstrating how discarded materials can be transformed into functional products for sustainable urban infrastructure.
The presentation attracted considerable interest for its practical application of circular economy principles and its potential contribution to green construction and smart city development. Through this research, HUTECH showcased its commitment to applying scientific innovation to address real-world environmental challenges.
Sharing Innovative Educational Models with International Partners
Beyond research achievements, HUTECH also shared its educational innovations with regional and international academic communities.
At the International Learning Session on Engineering Innovation Through Design Thinking: Sharing Global Best Practices in Program Implementation, organized by Visayas State University (Philippines), Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Director of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT), presented HUTECH's approach to integrating Design Thinking into engineering education.

His presentation introduced the University's Project Design Education model, which combines Design Thinking, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the CDIO framework to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving skills among students. Through a structured three-stage learning pathway, students are encouraged to identify real-world challenges, develop market-oriented solutions, and create tangible products or projects.
The session attracted educators and researchers from universities in Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, generating meaningful discussions on innovative approaches to engineering education and curriculum development.

The University's educational innovations were further highlighted at the
International Educators Congress on Innovation, Research and Pedagogy (IEC-IRP): Bridging Innovation and Research for 21st Century Teaching Excellence, organized by Northern Eastern Mindanao University in the Philippines.
At the plenary session on
"Global Trends and Innovative Pedagogies in 21st Century Teacher Education," both Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Tuan participated as Resource Speakers.
Mr. Hung presented
"Project Design Education for 21st-Century Learning: Developing Future-Ready Teachers through Innovation and Project-Based Approaches," highlighting how project-based learning and Design Thinking are integrated into HUTECH's educational ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tuan delivered a presentation entitled
"From Curriculum Values to Future-Ready Civil Engineers: Integrating Sustainability, Experiential Learning, and AI in Civil Engineering Education." His presentation demonstrated how sustainability principles, experiential learning, and artificial intelligence are incorporated into engineering curricula to prepare graduates for rapidly evolving industry demands.
