HUTECH to Host DAAD-funded “From Exchange to Impact” Workshop on Quality Assurance for Sustainable Higher Education

On October 6, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City (UEF) will jointly organize the workshop “From Exchange to Impact: DAAD Alumni Advancing Quality Assurance for Sustainable Higher Education Transformation in Vietnam.” The workshop is part of a project approved for funding under the DAAD Alumni Events 2026 program. Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, the project supports academic activities for the DAAD alumni network in Vietnam.

The project is led by Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH. The project co-organizers are Dr. Phan Bao Giang, Vice President of UEF; Ms. Do Minh Tam, Deputy Head of the Quality Assurance Department at UEF; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Center for Accreditation and Quality Assurance at HUTECH.

The workshop will bring together experts, educational leaders, representatives of higher education institutions, and members of the DAAD alumni community to exchange perspectives on quality assurance, internationalization, and sustainable development. A key highlight will be the expert panel discussion, featuring Prof. Dr. Philipp Pohlenz from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany; Dr. Phan Bao Giang and Dr. Ly Thien Trang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet, Vice President of Dong A University; Dr. Nguyen Van Hung, Head of the Educational Quality Accreditation Office under the Quality Assurance Department at Phenikaa University and Vice President of the ASEAN-QA Association; and Ms. Nguyen Minh Phuong, Manager of the Center for Education Quality Management and member of the Sustainability Committee at VinUniversity.

Drawing on perspectives from Vietnamese and German higher education institutions, participants will discuss approaches to building a culture of quality, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into quality assurance practices, and strengthening universities’ capacity to adapt to changes in society, technology, and the labor market. The workshop will also provide a platform for sharing experiences related to employability, future skills, and institutional transformation.
