HUTECH Students Make Their Mark at National and International Academic Competitions

From June to August 2026, HUTECH students continued to demonstrate their academic abilities, language proficiency, and global competencies through notable achievements at national and international competitions. From tackling challenges in artificial intelligence and innovation alongside ASEAN peers in Malaysia to taking the stage at nationwide Japanese and Korean speaking competitions, students put their knowledge into practice while strengthening the confidence, adaptability, and intercultural skills needed in an increasingly international learning environment.
Demonstrating Global Competencies at an ASEAN Academic Platform
At the ASEAN Student Experiential Mobility Programme (ASEMO @ UUM 2026) hosted by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), four HUTECH students, Ly Vu Nhu Ngoc, Luong Linh Dan, Tran Thi Thuy Tien, and Ho Phan Truc Anh, joined 250 students from 44 universities and educational institutions across the region.
Under the theme “Empowering ASEAN Youth Leaders: AI, Innovation and Sustainability,” the program combined online learning with an in-person experience in Malaysia, covering artificial intelligence, innovation and entrepreneurship, leadership, sustainability, and ASEAN geopolitics.
A highlight was the ASEAN Future Challenge 2026, where students worked in multinational teams to develop and present solutions before a panel. At the Semi-Final Presentation, Ho Phan Truc Anh’s team achieved 2nd Top-Tier in the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Track, while the team of Luong Linh Dan and Tran Thi Thuy Tien earned 2nd Top-Tier in the Artificial Intelligence Track.
Their achievements demonstrated not only their ability to develop ideas and address real-world challenges, but also their teamwork, communication, and presentation skills in a multicultural environment.

HUTECH Students Shine at Nationwide Japanese Speech Competition
HUTECH students also made their mark in language competitions. Le Thi Nhu Y and Le Van Cua, students of Japanese Language, both received Consolation Prizes at the Final Round of the 9th JLAN-Test Japanese Speech Contest 2026, after advancing from a field of 97 entries representing 25 institutions.

Nhu Y shared her journey from simply “knowing Japanese” to becoming confident enough to actually use the language in communication. Her experiences interacting with Japanese students helped her realize that language knowledge becomes truly meaningful when put into practice, encouraging her to overcome her fear of making mistakes.
Meanwhile, Le Van Cua presented “My Failure,” reflecting on how his perspective changed after earning the JLPT N1 certificate. Rather than seeing the qualification as an ultimate goal, he came to view it as a tool for continued learning and personal development.
Through their performances, both students demonstrated that language learning extends beyond linguistic proficiency to encompass confidence, critical reflection, and intercultural communication.
First Prize at the Korean Ambassador’s Cup Southern Regional Semi-Final
Adding to these achievements, Nguyen Duy Thuy Anh, a Korean Language student from class 23DHQA1, won First Prize in the Major Category at the Southern Regional Semi-Final of the 2026 National Korean Speaking Contest, Korean Ambassador’s Cup.
The achievement secured Thuy Anh a place among three representatives from Southern Vietnam advancing to the national final, scheduled to take place in Hanoi in October 2026.
With the topic “It’s Okay Not to Shine Like Others,” Thuy Anh reflected on her journey of overcoming the pressure of comparing herself with others and the challenges she encountered while learning Korean. Once self-conscious about her pronunciation and nervous when speaking in front of an audience, she gradually learned to focus on her own progress and recognize that everyone develops at a different pace.
Her relatable message, combined with natural Korean expression, coherent delivery, and confident presentation, earned recognition from the judges and an opportunity to continue demonstrating her abilities on the national stage.

From collaborating with ASEAN peers on AI and innovation solutions to demonstrating language proficiency on national stages, these achievements illustrate how HUTECH students are actively applying their knowledge beyond the classroom. Each competition and international program provides an opportunity to test their abilities, broaden their perspectives, and strengthen the communication, collaboration, and adaptability needed to study, work, and connect in an increasingly global environment.
