HUTECH faculty strengthen professional capacity through international learning

From research and educational leadership to internationalization and innovative teaching, HUTECH faculty continued to strengthen their professional capacity through international training and academic programs in India, Germany, Vietnam, and South Korea. These opportunities enabled HUTECH representatives to engage with international experts and peers, update emerging approaches in higher education, and bring new perspectives back to their respective areas of work.
Expanding research capacity through a global academic community
From June 12 to July 12, Dr. Tang Minh Huong, Lecturer at HUTECH's Faculty of Business Administration, completed the in-person phase of the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), India.
Designed for young lecturers and researchers from different countries, the one-year program combines one month of study and research at JGU with 11 months of online research and collaboration. With more than 150 international scholars and researchers participating, the fellowship provides an environment for exchanging academic experience, developing research ideas, implementing projects, and building international research networks.
During his time at JGU, Dr. Tang Minh Huong participated in workshops, seminars, and academic conferences covering research methodology, academic writing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and specialized research topics. Working alongside JGU professors and researchers from different countries also provided opportunities to exchange perspectives in a multicultural academic environment and establish connections for future joint research and international publications.
Following the in-person phase, he continues to participate remotely in collaborative research projects and other academic activities throughout the remaining 11 months of the fellowship.

Developing leadership for the future of education and skills
Professional development at HUTECH also extended to educational leadership. Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, was selected as one of 25 education leaders representing 25 countries for the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Leadership Programme 2026, following a selection process involving 1,612 applications from more than 160 countries and territories.
Prior to the in-person program, participants completed three weeks of online learning before gathering at the United Nations Campus in Bonn, Germany, from June 22 to 26. Under the theme “Leading Systems Change in TVET,” the program examined how education and training systems can respond to major shifts affecting the future of skills and employment.
Key areas included digital transformation, artificial intelligence, green transition, sustainable development, equitable access to education, and lifelong learning. Through academic discussions, professional networking, and the development of action projects, participants exchanged leadership and management experiences while exploring approaches to improving educational quality, adaptability, and responsiveness to changing workforce needs.
For HUTECH, participation in the program provided an opportunity to stay connected with emerging international developments in education and skills, while gaining perspectives that can contribute to innovation in teaching and learning and strengthen international engagement.

Updating internationalization strategies for a changing higher education landscape
As universities increasingly move beyond individual international activities toward more comprehensive global engagement, HUTECH representatives also strengthened their capacity in internationalization strategy and planning.
On July 16 and 17, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President, and Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, participated in the training program “Glocalising Education in Viet Nam for the Emerging Era: Think Global, Act Local,” jointly organized by Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training, the British Council, and the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE).
The program explored emerging trends in Transnational Education (TNE), changing models of higher education cooperation, the Vietnamese policy landscape, quality assurance, and institutional global engagement strategies. Discussions also addressed how universities can balance international ambitions with local missions, academic strengths, and benefits for learners.
Through group discussions and action planning, HUTECH representatives examined opportunities and challenges in international engagement while further developing their capacity to analyze, plan, and implement international cooperation in ways appropriate to the University's context.
The program also emphasized a shift in internationalization from breadth to depth, from signing agreements to implementation, and from isolated activities toward institution-wide strategies. Other topics, including the international student experience, attraction of international students and experts, and sustainable cooperation models, provided additional perspectives for developing meaningful international engagement.

Bringing new teaching approaches into the classroom
At the disciplinary level, international professional development also provided HUTECH lecturers with opportunities to update teaching methods and explore the role of emerging technologies in education.
From July 12 to 17, Dr. Bui Phan Anh Thu, Dean of HUTECH's Faculty of Korean Studies, joined 30 lecturers from 18 countries in professional activities in Seoul and Jeju as part of the KF Global e-School Korean Language Teachers Invitation Program 2026.
She also participated in the 2026 World Korean Language Educators Training, which brought together approximately 550 Korean language educators from around the world. Participants exchanged classroom practices, explored effective educational models, and discussed emerging issues in Korean language education.
Among the program highlights was a workshop on the application of AI in Korean language teaching. The session examined how technology can support lesson design, learning material development, and student interaction, while emphasizing the importance of selecting and applying AI according to pedagogical objectives.
The program was also a two-way academic exchange. Dr. Bui Phan Anh Thu presented HUTECH's implementation of KF Global e-School, sharing how the Faculty of Korean Studies integrates live online lectures, recorded materials on the LMS, in-person teaching by Korean Studies lecturers, and experiential learning activities with program learning outcomes.
Visits and discussions at the Korea Foundation in Jeju further created opportunities to exchange experiences with partner universities and explore future collaboration in academic resources and teaching development.

Although differing in focus, the four programs share a common purpose: continuous professional development through exposure to international knowledge, practices, and professional networks. Research training in India strengthens the capacity to develop academic projects and international publications. Leadership development in Germany provides perspectives on the future of education, skills, and systemic change. Internationalization training offers practical approaches to institutional strategy and global engagement, while professional development in South Korea brings new teaching methods, digital tools, and international academic resources closer to the classroom.
Through these opportunities, HUTECH faculty are not only expanding their individual expertise but also building connections that can support research collaboration, educational innovation, international cooperation, and improvements in the student learning experience. By bringing knowledge and perspectives gained from international programs back into their professional practice, they contribute to the continuous development of HUTECH's academic and institutional capacity.
