On June 27, the Faculty of Finance and Commerce, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HUTECH) successfully held a Citywide Scientific Conference (ESR-2020) with the theme "Industrial Revolution 4.0 and research, training and applications in the economics field.”

Scientists, experts, representatives of economic organizations participate in the conference

On the side of sponsors and co-organizing universities, there were representatives of Vietnam Retailers Association, Vietnam Meat Industries Limited Company (VISSAN), Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank); Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF); Ho Chi Minh University of Food Industry; Ho Chi Minh University of Banking.

In the opening speech, Dr. Bui Van The Vinh said, "The Industry Revolution 4.0 affects all fields and aspects of the global economy, and Vietnam is no exception. The opinions, judgments, and solutions given by the scientists and experts attending the conference will be an important basis for HUTECH as well as other educational institutions to make modifications, improve the quality of training, and sufficiently meet the needs of employers."

The conference focuses on the presentation of 5 reports relating to key issues such as the application of achievements of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in economics, services, finance-banking, corporate governance; education; economic and financial management. These topics cover the main research issues of 70 scientific articles submitted by experts and scholars to this year’s conference.

Particularly, the five articles presented and debated at the seminar include: 1) The Digital Accountant: Digital skills in a transformed world; 2) Development orientation of financial technology in the industrial revolution 4.0 era in Vietnam; 3) The concept of "Insurtech" and identification of technological innovations in the insurance sector; 4) Effect of Bitcoin on the comprehensive financial development in Vietnam: Opportunities and Challenges; 5) Solutions to promote self-study and research when participating in online learning at universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Scientists and experts provide critical feedback on the presented research topics

Through the above presentations, the impacts of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 on the economics fields have been thoroughly analyzed by experts. This is the basis for HUTECH and other universities with training programs in the fields of economics in Ho Chi Minh City to refer to with the purpose of planning strategies to update the training curriculums, being ready to adapt to the rapid changes of times and the constant scientific and technological progress.
