HUTECH Green Summer Campaign 2016

In association with the enthusiastic spirit of the students nationwide in the 23rd Green Summer Campaign, in the morning of July 12, 2016, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) Union solemnly conducted the deployment ceremony for Green Summer campaign 2016 at 475A Dien Bien Phu main campus.

Attending the ceremony there were: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Union Audit Committee, Dr. Kieu Tuan – Chairman along with lecturers, Heads of faculties, departments and participants for the Green summer campaign.

Dr. Kieu Tuan made some very cordial encouragement to the Green Summer participants in addition to telling the them to continue to promote the strong spirit of youth, always be dynamic, creative and completely efficient in implementing the contents of the campaign in order to build a sentimental and civilized society, Dr. Kieu Tuan sent his best wishes for health and safety to the volunteers as well as his hopes for triumph for the entire campaign. “May you overcome all challenges; complete all the tasks to once again affirm the spirit of the campaign: stay-people like, work-people trust, leave-people miss in accordance to the motto safe, practical, discipline, efficiency”. It was the warm emotions that Dr. Kieu Tuan and the school leaders gave to the students that contributed to make the atmosphere of the deployment ceremony serene, meaningful and promising for a good start for the most memorable journey of the student life.
The Green Summer soldiers
This year, Green Summer Campaign was officially implemented from July 12, 2016 until August 8, 2016 with the participation of total 400 soldiers on two fronts. In which, the front of Kien Giang province, My Duc and Thuan Yen commune contributed 100 soldiers, the front of HCM City in two areas, Binh Thanh and Nha Be District contributed 200 soldiers. Especially there was one soldier participating in the international volunteer from Lao People's Democratic Republic, and two soldiers participating the fronts of Tho Chu island - Kien Giang. The teams participating in HUTECH Green Summer campaign 2016 focus on key contents such as volunteering for children; new rural area construction; environmental protection; activities for social welfare; volunteering to maintain order and traffic safety and accompanying youths in social skills training etc.
Many meaningful tasks will be carried out by the soldiers at the 3 major fronts this year
According to the Campaign Steering Committee, in HCM City, the program will have many themes like "Gratitude" which include visiting and taking care of families under preferential treatment policy (policy families), participating in lighting candles in tribute to heroes and martyrs; "For the health of children" which will include the organization of health care, free medicine distribution to disadvantaged children, etc. Not only those, there are other themes and other meaningful activities such as "Pride of Binh Thanh Youth with traffic safety culture "," Green Summer Soldier action for social welfare "at Thanh Da drug rehabilitation center; voluntary blood donation day "One drop of blood – Thousands shares", " Green Summer Soldier action for Children" at Union County and oncological hospital; support for families with difficulties, building new charitable houses, fixing houses; etc.
The units sponsored many valuable gifts for the Green Summer campaign 2016
In My Duc and Thuan Yen commune, Kien Giang province, the main activities will focus on implementing the concreting of rural roads, "Light up country roads" construction and installation of rural lampposts; instructing people how to build septic landfills; starting summer classes; gifting scholarships, bicycles, books for disadvantaged children; organizing visits and gifts to policy families, families that have contribution to the revolution; support building flagpoles, cultural exchange, skills training for young people in the two communes.

Reportedly, on the day of July 9, 2016 and July 10, 2016 in the Green Summer Deployment Ceremony of the district and city level, HUTECH GS soldiers had made an impressive "startup" by cleaning up local areas in the district, unclogging Rach Lang cannals, Binh Thanh District. In particular, HUTECH Green Summer team was always radiant by the appearance of the beautiful girl students which won the affections of the majority of people everywhere due to the cheerfulness, capability and resourcefulness.
Departing to each front
HUTECH Green Summer campaign is a traditional activity, held annually to promote the motivating spirit of volunteerism, create vivid practical environment for union members - students to have the opportunity to practice, be challenged, dedicate and mature. Affirming the strength, enthusiasm, intelligence and the striving spirit of HUTECH youth "Go to contribute, go to share, go to practice, go to mature". This is the 20th season that HUTECH Green Summer soldiers volunteered to join this meaningful campaign.

Donating 3 new sets of computers, 2 drum sets for schools
Donating 200 national flags for border communes
Organizing 2 basic computer classes for local youths, children
Organizing 3 cultural and entertainment nights for the locals
Organizing 10 sport exchange series with local youths
Gifting 300 sets of clothes for disadvantaged households, families
Joining environmental landscape renovation activities, renovating of the canal route in local areas
Organizing 2 batches of Party admission for volunteering students
