On April 15, 2024, the Institute of Engineering of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) in collaboration with Ascendas Company held the seminar “AI Empowerment for Autonomous Robotics with MATLAB” to assist potential engineers in developing self-propelled robot systems with high perfection.
Taking on the role of speaker at the seminar is Mr. Ngo Duc Thang - Application Engineer at Ascendas Company. In addition, the program also has the companionship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hung - Deputy Director of the Institute of Engineering, Dr. Nguyen Van Nhanh - Deputy Director, MSc. Le Hong Hieu - Deputy Director, Ms. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - Representative of Ascendas Company.

Representatives of the Institute of Engineering
Mr. Ngo Duc Thang introduced the design nature of self-management systems including visual image processing, types of sensors used in autonomous robots, motion processes, behavioral planning, motion control, path tracking and logic control. In addition, he also shared challenges when applying AI to self-operating robots such as excessive/insufficient data to perform actions, incomplete and incompatible tools to integrate other systems.
Mr. Ngo Duc Thang was presenting the application of AI to robot manufacturing
Subsequently, students were taught the knowledge of AI integration into robot inventions. Specifically, AI-equipped robots increase the ability to perform complex tasks as well as cobots (collaborative robots) along with humans make the production process more flexible and faster.
The game winners were rewarded with valuable gifts
In addition, the application of MATLAB was mentioned as well. Accordingly, MATLAB is a software that provides a numerical computing and programming environment designed by MathWorks, allowing users to perform numerical computations with matrices, plot functions, or data charts, implement algorithms, create user interfaces, and integrate with programs coded in various programming languages.
Representatives and students gather for group photos in the end
As a result, the seminar actively facilitates students of the Institute of Engineering in learning and applying AI to self-propelled robots as well as development possibilities in different fields, making it more effective and easier for students in their study and research journey.
