HUTECH Environmental Engineering students explore the construction and management of urban water supply and drainage system

On October 28, the Institute of Applied Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a seminar titled “Construction Management of Urban Water Supply and Drainage System: Experience and Practice” at HUTECH High-Quality Manpower Training Center (District 9).

The speakers at the seminar were Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Project Supervisor of Cho Lon Water Supply Company and Mr. Huynh Van Lam - Director of Dan Vi Co., Ltd, who are both experienced experts in the field of urban water supply and drainage construction in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Huynh Van Lam - Director of Dan Vi Co., Ltd. Introduces students to plumbing materials, the role of valves, elbows, joints, etc

The speakers emphasized the importance of the management and implementation of urban water supply projects, pipe connection, and clamp saddled. Students also gained insight into the advantages and limitations of plumbing materials, experience in reading construction drawings, laying water pipes according to excavation standards, as well as the role of valves, elbows, and joints in the water supply network. In addition, the experts also shared with students the pros and cons of each design and construction method and answered questions based on their accumulated experience of working in various urban projects in Ho Chi Minh City.

Students practice removing, installing, connecting pipes, etc. at the end of the seminar

In the seminar, students were also instructed to install and connect uPVC pipes and HDPE pipes on hot welding machines. In the near future, HUTECH students would be allowed to visit and observe the actual construction of a water supply project in Ho Chi Minh City under the guidance of experts from Cho Lon Water Supply Joint Stock Company.
