On October 1, the campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) came alive as the Institute of International Education (iHUTECH) welcomed its Class of 2025 freshmen. Under the theme “iHUTECH - iStart - iShine,” the welcome day was full of energy, laughter, and team spirit.
Nine teams were formed randomly from the new international students, setting the stage for a lively series of activities. Each group moved through different game stations, taking on challenges that tested coordination and creativity, like spoon-and-ball relay, ring passing, the telephone game, and quirky group-shaping. After each station, teams had to crack a puzzle before moving on to the next.
Students eagerly joined in a variety of fun activities
The combination of puzzles and physical games kept the event fast-paced and engaging. After completing all four stations, each team received a final clue at the central station. The first to solve it and cross the finish line took the top spot, but the excitement along the way was what made the day stand out.
The puzzle-solving challenge added extra excitement and suspense to the event
Beyond the fun, the activities were designed to help students build important skills. Working in mixed teams gave everyone a chance to practice leadership, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Just as importantly, it was also a chance for freshmen to meet, interact, and start building friendships that will carry them through their time at HUTECH.

The event created an enjoyable space full of memorable moments for freshmen
At the end of the event, the organizers presented first, second, and third prizes to the top teams. Win or lose, every group left with plenty of memorable moments: the tense seconds of solving puzzles, the bursts of laughter during the games, and most of all, the feeling of belonging and being part of a team.
