HUTECH Lecturers study new teaching methods as part of the CATALYST Project

In the morning of August 21st, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) Institute of International Education (HIIE) organized the first ones of the new teaching method trainning sessions for all HUTECH lecturers, as part of the CATALYST International Project.

The training sessions discuss topics corresponding to the different expertises and specialties of each major, each Faculty/Institute/Center at HUTECH and are splitted into 3 groups, which include the sessions of Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Thu – Dean of HUTECH English Faculty, MSc. Nguyen Lan Huong – Vice Director of HIIE, and MA. Ngo Tran Minh Nhat – Lecturer of HIIE. The sessions discussed and trained the lecturers in youth psychology in education, as well as acquiring and applying new teaching methods in a most efficient and practical way.

With main emphasys on comparing and acknowledging the advantages and disadvantages of the new teaching methods and the traditional ones, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kieu Thu guided and instructed the lecturers on how to approach and exchange information with students during classes in a sciientific and accessible way.

MSc. Nguyen Lan Huong’s session focused on the topic of youth psychology in training and education, especially in the classrom context, and thereby worked toward teaching methods that can stimulate the students’ interest and feelings toward the subject.

Meanwhile, at her session, MA. Ngo Tran Minh Nhat actively guided lecturers to give their own opinions about advantages and disadvantages of new teachign methods in an open discussion. Together, the lecturers discussed toward the practical and efficient application of the learner-focused teaching model which the CATALYST Project has always aimed for.

The training sessions will help HUTECH lectuers to understand the new advanced teaching methods

The next sessions will be held on August 24th and 28th, with the host being MSc. Nguyen Duc Quang – Lecturer of HUTECH IT Faculty. Their aim will be to introduce the essential strengths and advantages of the new teaching methods to HUTECH lecturers.
