On December 3, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed H.E. Ms. Vuyiswa Tulelo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to Vietnam, and Ms. Geeta Daya, First Secretary, during their visit to discuss potential educational cooperation and expanded academic and cultural exchange opportunities between the two countries.

Ambassador Ms. Vuyiswa Tulelo praised the strong development of higher education in Vietnam and expressed her positive impression of HUTECH’s dynamic learning environment. She noted that while South Africa is home to several prestigious universities, such as the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand, access to quality education remains limited for certain student groups.

Given this context, the Ambassador expressed hope that the meeting would pave the way for meaningful collaboration, allowing South African students to access modern academic offerings in Vietnam while also creating opportunities for Vietnamese students, especially those from HUTECH, to study in South Africa, engage in cultural exchange, and experience the rich educational environment of the African continent.

During the discussion, both sides agreed on the potential to develop student exchange initiatives, cultural exchange activities, academic collaboration, and enhanced connections between students of the two countries. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman of the University Board of Directors, also highlighted HUTECH’s distance learning programs as an effective solution to help South African students access high-quality training without geographical barriers.
