As part of an international working visit from February 4 to 7, a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) took part in a series of major academic and diplomatic events in Myanmar.
The visit featured several highlights, including the Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony for President Min Aung Hlaing at the University of Yangon and the 25th Silver Jubilee Research Conference and Science Fair 2026.

The Honorary Doctorate Conferment Ceremony for President Min Aung Hlaing was held at the Convocation Hall of the University of Yangon. The Honorary Doctor of Public Administration degree was awarded in recognition of his contributions to national governance and leadership, as well as his efforts in advancing education and science and technology development. The ceremony was attended by high level officials and leaders from educational institutions around the world.

At the ceremony, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, on behalf of the University, expressed sincere appreciation for the President’s dedication and contributions. She stated, “HUTECH is honored to participate in this meaningful event and believes that the President’s contributions will continue to serve as a strong driving force for the advancement of education in Myanmar and the region. The University looks forward to further strengthening cooperation with universities in Myanmar in academic offerings, scientific research, and scholarly exchange.”

In addition to the conferment ceremony, the HUTECH delegation also participated in the 25th Silver Jubilee Research Conference and Science Fair 2026, organized by the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science and held at the Research and Innovation Center of the University of Yangon. The event is considered a large-scale academic forum, bringing together scientists, faculty members, and students from both Myanmar and abroad.
President Min Aung Hlaing emphasized the pivotal role of scientific research in national development
In his capacity as Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, President Min Aung Hlaing delivered the opening remarks at the conference. He highlighted the critical importance of science and technology research to national development and called on scientists and educational institutions to intensify research efforts in service of the country. He also underscored the close connection between education, science, and technology, encouraging the integration of research and innovation to promote sustainable development, while preserving cultural heritage alongside the adoption of modern technologies to build a prosperous nation.
The University of Yangon showcased science and cultural booths featuring research products and traditional values
As part of the Science Fair, 21 faculties of the University of Yangon presented science and cultural booths displaying research products, local specialties, and traditional cuisine. The event attracted a large number of university students, high school students, and visitors, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere and strengthening community engagement.
The series of activities laid the groundwork for further collaboration between the University and its partners in Myanmar
The HUTECH delegation actively engaged in academic discussion sessions, exchanging perspectives on internationalization in higher education and exploring directions for future research collaboration. These interactions contributed to expanding the University’s network and establishing a solid foundation for sustainable development in the years ahead.

Established in 1999, the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science has continuously organized large-scale research conferences to promote the advancement of science and technology within Myanmar’s higher education system. The year 2026 marks the 25th edition of the conference, aiming to encourage younger generations to actively engage in research and innovation.
