HUTECH introduces Learning Express (LeX) 2026, expanding international learning opportunities through community engagement

With the aim of equipping students with knowledge, skills, and an international mindset, on February 5, the Faculty of English Language, in coordination with the Department of International Relations and Project Management of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), organized an introduction to Learning Express (LeX) 2026. The session took place on February 5

Sharing at the event, Mr. Vo Quoc Dai, Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language, provided students with an overview of the LeX project initiated by Singapore Polytechnic and implemented in many countries across the region. According to the plan, the project will take place in March 2026 with HUTECH as a partner, offering students opportunities to conduct field studies within local communities, foster creative thinking, and strengthen international collaboration. Based on these experiences, student teams will propose practical solutions to address existing issues while honoring traditional cultural values.

Within the framework of the event, students also engaged in a series of expert oriented sharing sessions led by experienced lecturers, gradually building the essential knowledge base and skills required before participating in the project.

Specifically, Dr. Le Tri Hieu, Head of the Automotive Engineering Technology program at the Institute of International Education, introduced the Design Thinking approach, which serves as the core framework throughout the project. His presentation helped students clearly understand the process of implementing a community-based project, from understanding local needs and identifying problems to developing and testing solutions, as well as evaluating effectiveness to meet project requirements.

In addition to academic preparation, Ms. Trinh Ngoc Anh, Head of the Hospitality Management and Tourism and Travel Management programs, offered an overview of the cultural and social context of Singapore. She focused on communication culture, time discipline, psychological characteristics, and especially religious factors. These insights help students better recognize cultural differences, thereby enhancing adaptability and effective teamwork in international learning and collaboration environments.

In addition, Mr. Ho Hai Tien, a lecturer of the Faculty, directly guided students through groups of specialized vocabulary relevant to project activities, with particular emphasis on terms related to students’ field research locations such as incense making villages and water puppetry. This support aims to strengthen students’ communication skills when working with local communities, while also enabling them to confidently introduce and share the traditional cultural values of Vietnam with international peers.
