The 12th Euréka 2010: HUTECH excellently attaining 4 prizes at the final round

After the success in Students' Scientific Research Prize of 2010 at the Ministry level on 23 December 2010, HCMC Univeristy of Technology (HUTECH) gave the municipal and national scientist circles a good impression on entering for the 12th Euréka 2010 to receive the 4 prizes of two majors of the environment and biotechnology (3 topics) and of food technology (1 topic). To the school's great honor, HUTECH Youth Union was awarded the certificate of merit for gaining the high achievement in 2010 Scientific research by HCM City People's Committee on the occasion of Prize Awarding Ceremony and Young Science and Technology Creativity Festival held on 04 January 2011.

In the final round on 13 November 2010 at HCM City Polytechnic University, the topic researchers - with a stable scientific foundation, a logical research content, creative research method and high applicability - completely convinced the Examiner Board that they are leading experts and worth receiving the high prizes.

In the field of Resources and Environment, urged from the awareness of reducing pollution and reusing agricultural waste in protecting the environment, Student Dang Thi Nhan carried out the research on "Producing compost fertilizer from manioc peel to serve ecological agriculture", Student Nguyen Ha Phuong Ngan did a research on "Treating breeding waste water with Jatropha curcas L. on the botanical filtering model, and Student Vu Thi Bach a research on "Taking full advantage of agricultural waste to make building materials". They all were awarded the third prize and two consolation prizes relatively. Ms. Vu Hai Yen of Environment and Biotechnology Faculty, the advisor of the above three topics, said: "Thanks to the high applicability of the topics, many environmental companies expressed their intention of receiving the topics and inviting the student researchers to work for their companies.

It was aslo known that after the consolation prize of ministry level 2010, the research named "Developing the products of nutritious drinks and baby foods from Malt rice" gained the third prize at the field of Technique and Technology.  The research was carried out by a team consisting of Lê Uyên Minh, Nguyễn Phương Duy, Trần Lê Thiên Lý, Tôn Nữ Huỳnh Hoa and Đoàn Thị Tú Quyên (Food Technology Faculty) under the supervision of Associate Professor, Doctor Duong Thanh Liem and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Yen.

The achievements mentioned above will surely be the motivation for HUTECH teachers and students alike to confirm their abilities and to continue making more efforts for more success in science research in the coming years, contributing to the recognition of HUTECH, the leading university in Viet Nam's Education System.
