Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City sets high expectations for new students at VJIT Opening Ceremony

At the 2024-2025 academic year opening ceremony of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) on September 28, Mr. Ono Masuo, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his hopes that the new students will serve as a vital bridge between Vietnam and Japan in the future.
Expressing his excitement at the ceremony, Mr. Ono Masuo encouraged students to excel in their studies and actively engage in Japanese cultural events to strengthen ties between the two nations.

In addition to Mr. Ono Masuo, Mr. Osawa Satoshi, President of Kanazawa Institute of Technology (Japan), emphasized the importance of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, all of which are highly valued by Japanese companies. He expressed hope that VJIT students would become leaders not only in Vietnam but also on a global scale.

Mr. Aoyagi Yoichiro, a member of the Japanese House of Representatives and Senior Advisor to the VJIT Founding Council, and Mr. Fujishima Yasuyuki, Director of the Human Resources Development and Employment Organization of Japan (HuReDee) and a member of the VJIT Founding Council, also sent their congratulations, wishing the students a successful academic year.
During the ceremony, eight outstanding students from the 2024 cohort were honored for their high academic achievements in the Vietnam-Japan program, and they received awards recognizing their excellence. The 2024 class leaders were also introduced to faculty and fellow students.

In addition to Mr. Ono Masuo, other notable attendees included Mr. Shiraishi Hideyuki, Consul and Head of Cultural Affairs at the Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Kawasaki Minako, Deputy Chief Representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Emiko Kurita, a Japanese language expert at the Japan Cultural Exchange Center; and representatives from several companies.

Representing HUTECH were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice President; Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President; Ms. Dinh Hai Yen, Assistant to the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Director of VJIT; Dr. Ha Minh Tuan, Vice Director of VJIT; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Director of the Center for Project Design and Innovation, along with other university leaders.
