For Gen Z students passionate about Japanese culture and eager to connect with the world, a multicultural learning environment is the key to rapid personal and professional growth. At Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), students don’t just gain specialized knowledge—they also get to experience Japanese culture through festivals, international exchanges, and exciting internship opportunities, preparing them for seamless entry into the global job market.
Experience Japan through the Japanese cultural festival
The VJIT Matsuri—HUTECH’s annual Japanese Cultural Festival—brings the essence of Japan to campus, offering students an immersive way to engage with Japanese traditions, spark their love for the language, and experience the country’s rich heritage firsthand.

As a large-scale annual event, the festival offers students the chance to explore Japan’s vibrant traditions through captivating activities, including Kendo demonstrations and Yosakoi dance performances. Attendees can also participate in a tote bag design contest with the theme “Mottainai” or join the highly anticipated Cosplay Contest, where they transform into beloved anime, manga, and video game characters like KAITO from Project Sekai, Youkinshi, Iguro Obanai, Hatsune Miku, and Kiriya Ubuyashiki.

Beyond performances, students get hands-on experience in Japanese cuisine by preparing classic dishes such as curry rice, shabu-shabu hot pot, okonomiyaki, norimaki, and udon noodles. Booths displaying manga, novels, calligraphy, and imported ceramics further enrich the experience, giving students an authentic glimpse into Japanese art and literature.

They also connect with artisans to discover the essence of Japanese culture
HUTECH’s Japanese cultural experience extends beyond the festival, with interactive workshops featuring expert artisans, engaging discussions on samurai traditions in "Samurai Gang – The Warrior’s Sword," and exhibitions showcasing traditional Kimono and Yukata attire. Students can also take part in exciting competitions like Super Kanji and “Mastering Japanese in 30 Days”, deepening their cultural understanding and global adaptability.
Expanding horizons through international exchange
HUTECH continues to build strong ties with top Japanese universities, creating opportunities for students to engage in cultural exchanges and academic collaborations. It’s common to see students from renowned institutions like Hosei University, Shizuoka Sangyo University, and Ritsumeikan APU visiting HUTECH for joint activities.
During these exchange programs, students take part in traditional games, cultural attire showcases, performing arts, seminars, and field trips. These experiences help them strengthen their intercultural communication skills, gain a deeper appreciation of Japanese traditions, and prepare for careers in leading Japanese enterprises.

Building confidence through global friendships
Beyond official exchange programs, HUTECH fosters continuous collaboration between its students and their Japanese counterparts. Activities like joint language learning sessions, field trips, lantern-making competitions, and Hokusai and Ikebana art exhibitions help students develop problem-solving skills, gain an international perspective, and enhance their cross-cultural competencies.
Unlocking career opportunities through internship programs
For students majoring in Japanese Language (Faculty of Japanese Studies) or enrolled in Vietnam-Japan programs (Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology), internship opportunities in Japan offer a unique advantage. Eligible students—those with at least N4 Japanese proficiency, who haven’t yet completed their required internship in Vietnam, and who meet Japan’s visa requirements—can gain invaluable work experience in a real-world setting.

These internships provide not just hands-on industry experience, but also language immersion, cultural exposure, and competitive salaries, giving students a strong foundation for future careers in Japanese corporations. By embracing these opportunities, HUTECH students gain the skills and confidence to excel in international workplaces, paving the way for a successful global career.
