On May 28, the Faculty of Korean Studies at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) had the honor of welcoming Mr. Shin Choong Il, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City. The visit marked a step toward expanding strategic partnerships and enhancing educational quality for students in a globalized era.
During the meeting, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, extended a warm welcome to the Consul General and his delegation. She emphasized her hopes for a strong and meaningful partnership between the university and Korean institutions. Dr. Trang reaffirmed HUTECH’s commitment to improving education quality and broadening international cooperation to optimize student learning experiences, academic development, and career orientation. She underscored that modern education is not just about imparting knowledge, but about creating opportunities, expanding experiences, and nurturing global integration skills.

In her activity report, Dr. Bui Phan Anh Thu, Dean of the Faculty of Korean Studies, provided an overview of the department’s academic programs, research achievements, and cultural exchange activities. These accomplishments reflect not only the quality of the faculty’s educational efforts but also the ongoing support from the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, which has continuously fostered and enabled meaningful academic and cultural initiatives.

In addition to recognizing ongoing initiatives such as special topic classes, cultural exchange activities, and the presence of WFK volunteers teaching at the university, both parties agreed to further expand cooperation in key academic areas. These include organizing international conferences, increasing hands-on learning opportunities for students, developing student exchange programs, offering government scholarships, and establishing joint study programs. All these efforts aim to equip students with strong academic foundations, deep cultural understanding, and the confidence to thrive in international environments.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Vice President of HUTECH, also highlighted the university’s interest in Korea’s advanced technologies, particularly in engineering and information technology—fields that are driving innovation in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice President, expressed a keen interest in adopting Korea’s digital transformation solutions in education, especially Learning Management Systems (LMS). These platforms play a vital role in organizing, managing, and assessing education quality. The discussions reaffirmed HUTECH’s strategic direction in embracing educational technologies, aligning with global trends, and enhancing the student experience—ultimately aiming to train students who are innovative thinkers, digitally competent, and globally adaptable.
