On July 4, the Institute of Health Sciences at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed and held a working session with the delegation from JAMWEI (Japan) and its affiliated units. This was the second meeting between the two sides, following the discussion on June 30, aimed at strengthening cooperation in medical and health training and research.
During the session, the two sides discussed the possibility of collaborating in doctoral programs between Tokyo Healthcare University (a member of JAMWEI) and the Institute of Health Sciences at HUTECH. Prof. Dr. Seto Ryoma, Assistant to the President of Tokyo Healthcare University, presented an overview of the university and its postgraduate programs, particularly its doctoral programs in Nursing - one of the university’s key strengths.

Also, during the meeting, the Institute of Health Sciences at HUTECH provided specific details regarding its demand for doctoral training in two fields: Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Engineering. The Institute also shared information on the regulations for degree recognition under the Vietnamese education system, helping both sides identify suitable cooperation directions to ensure quality and effectiveness.

The two parties also discussed in detail the admission requirements, target participants, program duration, language of instruction, supervising faculty, as well as factors related to learning format, tuition fees, and study locations. The proposed program is expected to be fully delivered in English over a three-year period, with professors from Japan serving as academic advisors.
Both sides agree on a direction for cooperation, aiming to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the near future
Representatives from both sides agreed to submit the proposal to Tokyo Healthcare University and HUTECH with the goal of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the near future. This will be a key step in expanding international learning and research opportunities for HUTECH students and faculty, particularly in the health sciences field.
The working session opened up promising prospects for practical cooperation, contributing to HUTECH’s postgraduate internationalization strategy. It also lays a solid foundation for developing high-quality joint postgraduate programs between HUTECH and reputable Japanese partners in the future.
