On July 7, a group of 16 students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) departed for Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), officially beginning their semester exchange program, which takes place from July 7 to August 3, 2025, in Sarawak state, Borneo Island, Malaysia.
The program is part of the annual international collaboration between HUTECH and UNIMAS. It plays a vital role in providing students with international academic exposure, expanding global mindsets, and enabling the accumulation of academic credits. This year, the program is titled the Lingua Smart Mobility Program and is co-organized by UNIMAS Business School and the Department of International Relations and Project Management at HUTECH.

Upon arrival in Malaysia, HUTECH students were welcomed by representatives from UNIMAS and assisted in traveling to the university campus. Students received their uniforms, were assigned dormitory accommodations, and participated in the opening ceremony of the international semester. To ensure effective learning, UNIMAS conducted an English placement test to build personalized learning pathways suited to each student's proficiency level.

During their nearly one-month stay at UNIMAS, HUTECH students will study two intensive courses: English for Academic and Everyday Communication and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI). The course English for Academic and Everyday Communication combines theory with practical activities, encouraging student interaction to improve English usage in international settings. It helps students develop the four core language skills while reinforcing vocabulary, grammar, and communication in both academic and everyday contexts.
Meanwhile, the Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) course provides students with foundational knowledge of AI, covering core concepts, real-world applications, and current technological trends. Beyond technical knowledge, the course also fosters innovation, digital thinking, and adaptability in the context of digital transformation during the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Representatives from both universities exchanged souvenirs to celebrate their strong partnership
In addition to academic activities, students also participated in field trips and cultural experiences in Malaysia, including visits to the Borneo Cultures Museum, Sarawak Cultural Village, Mount Santubong, Sarawak River, and Kuching City. These activities offered students deeper insight into local culture while enhancing their intercultural communication skills in an international setting.
Participating in the exchange program in Malaysia marks a milestone in international exposure and personal growth for HUTECH students
By joining the program, students not only gain academic knowledge but also develop intercultural communication skills, expand their global mindset, and enhance adaptability in a multicultural environment. It also presents opportunities for students to build international friendships and promote the image of HUTECH students as dynamic, capable, and globally ready.
