As part of the July 2025 business trip to Japan, the delegation from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held important meetings with corporate partners that host student interns, visited and encouraged current interns, and discussed collaboration with Kobe International University.
Strengthening ties with Japanese companies, expanding international internship opportunities for HUTECH students
The HUTECH delegation, including Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh - Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Director of VJIT, and Ms. Ho To Lien - Dean of the Faculty of Japanese Studies, visited several companies in Japan currently hosting VJIT interns. These included Kikuta Corporation (Senoumi and Oyado Zuiyo branches in Shizuoka Prefecture), Itoen Hotels Corporation (Itoen Hotel Shima, Ikaho Grand Hotel, Shirakabako View Hotel, Uomisaki Hotel), and Shinyu Onsen Corporation (Tateshina Shinyu Onsen).
Meetings between HUTECH and Japanese companies hosting interns
During the meetings, HUTECH representatives expressed their appreciation to the partners for supporting student training and providing international internship opportunities. Both sides discussed the current status of the internships, evaluated the effectiveness of the collaboration model, and explored plans to expand the program in the future.
The companies praised the quality of VJIT students, especially their motivation, serious work ethic, adaptability, and willingness to learn. They also shared practical suggestions for enhancing curricula to better align with real-world demands and current labor market needs. These activities reinforced the strategic partnership between HUTECH and Japanese companies, broadening international internship and employment opportunities for students.
Visiting and encouraging VJIT students currently interning in Japan
Alongside meetings with companies, the HUTECH delegation visited VJIT students currently interning in Japan. Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung met with students at various locations, including Itoen Hotels Corporation, Kikuta Corporation, and Shinyu Onsen Corporation, to hear about their work and daily experiences and offer words of encouragement for them to continue learning and thriving in a Japanese corporate environment.

Nguyen Tieu Thanh Tra and Tran Thu Tra, two students interning at Kikuta Corporation/Oyado Zuiyo in Shizuoka Prefecture, shared: “We’re truly happy and grateful that our teachers traveled all the way to Japan to visit and encourage us. Although the visit was short, their presence made us feel reassured, knowing that the university is always there to support us. We will continue to work hard during this internship to meet the expectations of our teachers and HUTECH.”
Working with Kobe International University (Japan) to promote educational collaboration
Also during the trip, on July 18, HUTECH representatives including Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh and Ms. Nguyen Xuan Hung held an official meeting with Kobe International University (KIU). Both institutions introduced their educational structures, academic programs, student life, tuition policies, and support services for international students. They also expressed interest in fostering more practical and effective partnerships in the near future.
HUTECH met with Kobe International University (Japan)
On behalf of HUTECH, Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh expressed the university’s interest in developing a 3+1 joint training model in fields such as economics, services, and hospitality, delivered in Japanese. He also extended an invitation to the KIU President to visit and work with HUTECH in the future.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung presented detailed information about VJIT, a unit that offers Vietnam–Japan programs aimed at training high-quality human resources aligned with Japanese standards. He emphasized that fields such as economics, marketing, and tourism-hospitality services are strong areas that align with KIU’s programs. He also proposed the development of transfer programs for VJIT students to study at KIU in the coming years.
The two sides discussed joint education in key disciplines
KIU representatives appreciated the collaboration proposals and expressed interest in continuing discussions to implement suitable programs, especially in enhancing student exchange initiatives. Dr. Shimoda Shigenori – KIU President – also stated that he would arrange a time to visit HUTECH in person.
HUTECH and KIU signed a memorandum of understanding in 2017. Since then, KIU has hosted three HUTECH students under exchange and transfer programs. Currently, KIU has about 480 international students from 40 countries, including 120 from Vietnam, highlighting the growing trust and connection between KIU and Vietnamese students.

HUTECH leadership’s business trip to Japan was significant in strengthening ties with strategic partners and directly supporting the well-being and learning of students. It also marked a concrete step toward advancing the internationalization of education, laying a sustainable foundation for HUTECH students’ holistic development in a global environment.
