Recently, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), delivered a presentation titled “Internationalization at HUTECH and the Development of the Vietnam–UK Transnational Education Consortium” at the seminar “Promoting the Internationalization of Higher Education through Transnational Education Partnerships” hosted by Phenikaa University.
The seminar was attended by Ms. Phung Thi Hong Van, Deputy Head of the Department of International Education, Ministry of Education and Training; Ms. Doan Huong Giang – Trade Manager, British Embassy; Ms. Hoang Van Anh – Director of Education Programs, British Council; and representatives in charge of international cooperation from various universities.
Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh - Deputy CEO of Phenikaa University, the seminar featured two keynote presentations from the British Council and HUTECH. Discussions focused on sharing models, policies, and practical approaches to the internationalization of higher education in the context of deepening global integration.
In her presentation, Dr. Ly Thien Trang addressed key issues and focus areas in internationalization strategy, including: expanding and strengthening international partnerships; promoting faculty and student exchange opportunities; internationalizing curricula and teaching methodologies; enhancing international quality assurance; fostering globally oriented research and innovation; building a modern learning environment; ensuring sustainable development; and improving institutional reputation and global rankings.

Additionally, Dr. Ly Thien Trang introduced the project “Developing the Vietnam–UK Transnational Education Consortium” funded by the British Council. The project comprises various practical activities aimed at advancing educational cooperation between the two countries. Based on this initiative, the UK–Vietnam TNE Consortium was officially established in March 2025, with the participation of leading universities from both nations. The Consortium aims to build a community of practice in the field of transnational education, while also enhancing the quality and appeal of collaborative academic programs between Vietnam and the UK.
The seminar received numerous in-depth contributions from participants, highlighting that internationalization is not merely a development strategy but a vital driver for improving the quality of higher education, meeting global demands, and advancing sustainable development goals.
Dr. Ly Thien Trang’s presentation provided practical insights into the comprehensive internationalization strategy in higher education, along with experience in building transnational education models. It also clearly demonstrated HUTECH’s pioneering role in international integration and its commitment to improving educational quality in line with global standards.
