HUTECH undergoes assessment for FIBAA accreditation of four undergraduate programmes

On September 10, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) officially commenced the external assessment of four undergraduate programmes: Accounting, International Business, Business Administration, and Restaurant and Food Service Management, under the standards of the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

International accreditation is a vital instrument for universities to affirm their academic reputation while creating opportunities to adopt advanced educational models, stay abreast of modern training trends, and broaden student mobility and career prospects. It also enhances the overall student experience and strengthens the University’s global competitiveness.
Guided by this orientation, HUTECH has consistently endeavoured to meet international accreditation benchmarks. The University selected the standards of FIBAA, a reputable accreditation body headquartered in Germany and Switzerland, authorised to operate in Vietnam since 2021.
Attending the opening session were Dr Marco Haid, Project Manager of FIBAA, together with the panel of experts: Prof. Dr. Ali Ozturen (University of North Cyprus), Prof. Dr. Ing. Ronald Glasberg (SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Dr. Jochen Zimmermann (University of Bremen, Germany), Dr. Donjeta Zejnullahu Pllana (Universum International College), Dr. Nguyen Van Hung (Phenikaa University, Vietnam), and Mr. Amadeus Werner (student representative, Triagon Academy).

Representing HUTECH were Vice Presidents: Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Prof. Dr Nguyen Trung Kien, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Dinh Nguyen, Dr. Bui Van The Vinh, and Dr. Huynh Ngoc Anh, together with deans and heads of departments of the programmes undergoing assessment.

The FIBAA panel was introduced to HUTECH through a presentation showcasing the University’s facilities, learning spaces, student-centred services, diverse study opportunities, vibrant academic and extracurricular ecosystem, and the corporate semester model for students. This offered the experts a comprehensive impression of HUTECH as a dynamic and pioneering institution committed to educational quality.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Ly Thien Trang stressed: “Quality in education and research has always been central to HUTECH’s development strategy. Over the past 30 years, the University has built a robust internal quality assurance system, with 30 programmes accredited under the Ministry of Education and Training’s standards and 14 programmes assessed by AUN-QA. HUTECH has also achieved QS 4 Stars overall, with five criteria rated at 5 Stars: Teaching, Employability, Facilities, Good Governance, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”

She further noted that the assessment under FIBAA standards is an opportunity for HUTECH to continue raising academic standards, fostering an excellent educational environment, and identifying areas for improvement. On behalf of the University, she expressed sincere appreciation to the FIBAA panel, acknowledging that their expertise would be invaluable to HUTECH’s quality enhancement efforts.

Following the opening session, the assessment continues with interviews involving faculty leaders and relevant stakeholders. The assessment is scheduled to take place over three days, from 10 to 12 September 2025.
