VJIT and Komaba Gakuen High School students engage in culinary exchange

The culinary-themed event, "Flavors of Vietnamese and Japanese Cuisine," held on October 18th, brought together students from the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and students from Komaba Gakuen High School (Tokyo, Japan). This event created an engaging cultural exchange space through exquisite and visually captivating dishes.

In this exchange, students from VJIT and Komaba Gakuen High School actively discussed the culinary culture of Vietnam, including dining invitations, daily menu structures, and typical dishes, thereby highlighting the cultural correlations between the two sides. They also explored Japanese cuisine, diving into popular dishes like tempura, sushi, miso, and ramen, learning about the ingredients and different ways of preparation.

Students presented their schools and showcased signature dishes that represent the culinary traditions of both countries
 
As part of the program, students from both schools had the opportunity to enjoy a selection of regional Vietnamese specialty desserts, including bánh bò, bánh da lợn, bánh pía, and bánh trôi. This enjoyable experience created a refreshing atmosphere that was both educational and fun.

The event also included group activities and competitions in two rounds: the first challenged participants to match five food images in the shortest time, while the second required them to answer twenty questions about the two countries' cuisines in Japanese. These activities allowed VJIT and Komaba Gakuen High School students to deepen their appreciation for the rich culinary traditions of both nations, fostering future cultural integration.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Hirano Kouji, Head of the Culinary Arts Department, and Mr. Miyakawa Kenichi, a representative from Komaba Gakuen High School. Representing HUTECH were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Director of the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT); Dr. Ha Minh Tuan, Vice Director of VJIT; and Ms. Lam My Trinh, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department.
