Poster presentation highlights HUTECH and CMU students’ innovation in environmental and technological solutions

To showcase student projects on sustainable development and green economy, on June 21, the Center for Project Design and Innovation under the Vietnam – Japan Institute of Technology (VJIT), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), held the Poster Presentation Session for the “Innovation & Entrepreneurial Thinking” course of Semester 2B. At the same time, the “Southeast Vietnam University Innovation Ideas Competition” was officially launched.
 

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh – Vice President of HUTECH – emphasized: “Innovation is a core competency that enables students to adapt to global changes. The projects presented not only reflect solid foundational knowledge but also demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility and a mindset for sustainable development among HUTECH students.”

With the theme “Developing the Green Economy Model”, this year’s poster session featured 45 outstanding projects from 8 course sections, attracting over 500 students from various disciplines: Engineering, Technology, Design, Communications, Environment, Healthcare, etc. A highlight of the program was the participation of students from China Medical University, who joined in idea exchange and project presentation, helping to create a lively and practical international academic environment. This activity was part of the student exchange program between the two universities under the theme “Building a Sustainable Working Environment for Vulnerable Groups in Society”, taking place from June 21–27, 2025.
 

The judging panel, serving as the competition’s referees, consisted of distinguished experts: Ms. Dang Thi Luan – Acting Director of Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB),  Mr. Nguyen Tan Loc – Director of Loc Nhan Coffee Recycling Co., Ltd., Mr. Nguyen Bach Khoa – Director of Vui Agriculture Connection Co., Ms. Ha Le Thu Hoai – Vice Director of the Center for Project Design Training, University of Economics and Finance (UEF). The judges not only scored the projects but also provided critical feedback and specific development directions for each one.
 
Students showcased numerous projects in sustainable development and green economy

Among the standout projects, Group 1 from Class N07 drew attention with “BARUI Kcap – Recycled Plastic Keycaps.” Originating from the personalization needs of the gaming community, the team developed a thermal-pressing process to create keycaps from plastic waste. The product is aesthetically pleasing, eco-friendly, and has clear commercial potential.

Project: EcoMosaic – Decorative Patterns from Recycled Fabric Scraps

 
Group 3 from Class N18 took a more artistic approach with the project “EcoMosaic – Decorative Patterns from Recycled Fabric Scraps.” Utilizing waste materials from the garment industry, the team created mosaic patterns for interior decoration. The project impressed not only with its aesthetics but also with its message of extending material life and promoting sustainable fashion.

Project: Recycled Shockproof Bag
 
Another practical project came from Group 4 of Class N11 with their “Recycled Shockproof Bag” made from used plastic straws and recycled foam. The unique design, inspired by Vietnamese cultural motifs, provides effective protection for electronic devices while offering low-cost, easy-to-produce solutions suitable for small-scale local manufacturing.

Project: SONODENT – Ultrasonic Tooth Cleaning Device
 
Group 4 from Class N13 stood out in the tech category with “SONODENT – Ultrasonic Tooth Cleaning Device,” a solution to replace traditional toothbrushes in areas lacking clean water. The device is compact, water-free, and designed to assist the elderly, children, or individuals with mobility challenges.

Project: SeaSkin – Sea Water Cleaning Tablets

 
Also demonstrating technological creativity, Group 5 of Class N13 presented “SeaSkin – Sea Water Cleaning Tablets,” which use natural enzymes from seashells and seaweed to replace chemical cleaning agents in community settings. The eco-friendly packaging, approachable concept, and compelling presentation left a strong impression on the judges.

Project: BIOAIR – Indoor Mini Green Lung Filtration System
 
Another audience favorite was the “BIOAIR – Indoor Mini Green Lung Filtration System” by Group 5 of Class N07. The device integrates hydroponic plants with a natural filtration membrane, aiming to improve indoor microclimates—especially suitable for modern urban settings.

Project “AI Smart Medical Assisting System for Gapless Medicare" by CMU students
 
Notably, students from China Medical University (Taiwan, China) introduced the project “AI Smart Medical Assisting System for Gapless Medicare.” This AI-powered system helps foreigners access healthcare services in Taiwan through automated translation, a user-friendly interface, and medical data analysis tools. The project demonstrates a humanitarian approach to technology, helping to bridge language gaps in healthcare.

As part of the program, the launch ceremony of the “Innovation Ideas Competition for Universities in Southeast Vietnam” was held. This initiative helps nurture innovation and contributes to building a sustainable future for society.
